Start with a recreational licence and buzz around your local airspace or go all the way to a career in aviation...

 

Recreational Pilot Licence

For the pilot who flies for fun

  • May hire Bunbury Aero Club aircraft or fly one's own aircraft

  • May carry 1 passenger

  • May only fly within 46km of departure aerodrome

  • May only fly during the daytime

  • Must be at least 16 years old

  • Must hold a Class 2 aviation medical

  • Maximum aircraft weight at take off is 1500kg

  • Endorsements available to expand flying capabilities

  • 1 Theory exam & flight test required

  • Minimum 25 hours to complete

Private Pilot Licence

For the recreational pilot flying larger aircraft, more passengers, further from home

  • May carry multiple passengers

  • May hire Bunbury Aero Club aircraft or fly one's own aircraft

  • Fly in uncontrolled & controlled airspace anywhere in Australia

  • Endorsements Available to expand flying capabilities

  • Must be at least 17 years old

  • Must hold a Class 2 aviation medical

  • Maximum aircraft weight at take off is 5700kg

  • 1 Theory exam & flight test required

  • Minimum 40 hours to complete (RPL hours included)

Commercial Pilot Licence

For the pilot seeking a career in aviation

  • May earn income from flying duties

  • Fly in uncontrolled & controlled airspace anywhere in Australia

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Must hold a Class 1 aviation medical 

  • Endorsements available to expand flying capabilities

  • 7 Theory exams & flight test

  • Minimum 200 hours to complete
