GENERAL AVIATION

Start with a recreational licence and buzz around your local airspace
or go all the way to a career in aviation...

 

Recreational Pilot Licence

  • Affordable

  • For the social pilot

  • Can carry a passenger

  • Solo Plane Hire or own plane

  • Fly within 25nm (46km) of base

  • Daytime only (Visual Flight Rules)

  • Must be over 16yrs old

  • Need driver's or Class 2 medical

  • Max take off weight 1500kgs

  • Endorsements Available

  • Theory exam & flight test needed

  • Min 25 hours to completion

        (20 hrs dual with 5 hours solo)

Private Pilot Licence

  • More intensive training

  • Can carry multiple passengers

  • Solo Plane Hire or own plane

  • Fly in uncontrolled & controlled airspace anywhere in Australia

  • Daytime (but can upgrade to Night or Instrument Ratings)

  • Must be over 17yrs old

  • Need a Class 2 medical

  • Max take off weight 5700kgs

  • Endorsements & Ratings Available

  • Theory exam & flight test needed

  • Min 40 hours to completion

        (10 hours solo) - RPL hours count

Commercial Pilot Licence

  • Extensive training

  • Can charge to carry passengers

  • Charter or career flying

  • Fly in uncontrolled & controlled airspace anywhere in Australia

  • Daytime ( but can upgrade to Night or Instrument Ratings)

  • Must be over 18yrs old

  • Need a Class 1 Medical 

  • Endorsements & Ratings Available

  • 7 Theory exams & flight test

  • Min 200 hours to completion

        (100 hours pilot in command    
         including 10 hours instrument)
